China readiness review
Best for: Brands deciding whether, when and how to enter.
Review product readiness, landed economics, target customer, entry structure, channels and the key unknowns that must be resolved.
ENTER & GROW IN CHINA
Build a practical route into China and connect importing, distribution, retail, marketplaces and local brand operations through one Shanghai-based team.
Plan your China market operation ↗THE SHORT ANSWER
From market decision to daily commercial execution.
Moi Trading helps international consumer brands assess, enter and operate in China. We connect market planning with the local work required to move products, activate channels, serve customers and learn from real sell-through.
WHEN THIS FITS
International consumer brands evaluating or entering China
Brands with proven products but no full local operating team
Companies that need importing, channels and local execution connected
Existing China operations that need clearer ownership and coordination
WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER
Best for: Brands deciding whether, when and how to enter.
Review product readiness, landed economics, target customer, entry structure, channels and the key unknowns that must be resolved.
Best for: Brands that want evidence before a wider commitment.
Define a limited product and channel scope, prepare the required local assets and test the commercial assumptions against real market response.
Best for: Brands that need accountable execution without a full local team.
Coordinate importing, inventory, channel operations, content, customer care and recurring commercial review under an agreed operating plan.
WHAT THE WORK CAN INCLUDE
Positioning, priority products, landed-price logic, entry mode and channel sequence.
Product documentation, registration support, customs coordination, warehousing and fulfilment planning.
Distribution, retail and marketplace operations across Tmall, JD.com and RED where appropriate.
Content, customer care, campaigns, inventory coordination and recurring performance review.
HOW IT MOVES
Review the brand, products, economics and current China readiness.
Agree the route, product scope, channel roles and operating responsibilities.
Coordinate readiness, importing, content, inventory and channel setup.
Run the agreed local work and report commercial performance.
Use evidence to widen, reorder, reposition or pause.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT MODEL
The right route depends on product readiness, control, investment and the work your headquarters can own. Moi Trading can help define and operate the selected route; it does not force every brand into the same channel package.
| Route | Best for | What it offers | Main consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cross-border e-commerce | Testing selected imported products | A lower-infrastructure way to reach online consumers | Category eligibility, platform economics and fulfilment still need validation |
| Distributor-led entry | Brands prioritising wholesale reach | Local purchasing, relationships and sales execution | The brand has less direct control over pricing, data and daily presentation |
| Local operating partner | Brands wanting coordinated control without a full China team | Connected importing, channels and recurring local execution | Scope, decision rights and commercial responsibilities must be explicit |
| Own China entity | Companies making a long-term internal investment | Maximum organisational control and direct hiring | Higher setup, compliance, management and fixed-cost commitment |

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
SHANGHAI BASE · CHINA REACH
Shanghai is Moi Trading's operating base and main point of accountability. Depending on the assignment, we coordinate company meetings, supplier and factory visits, trade-show work and partner follow-up in the relevant locations across China. Project coverage does not imply a permanent office in every city.
SCOPE & BOUNDARIES
Product-specific registration, legal opinions, tax advice and regulated testing are handled with the appropriate qualified specialists. Commercial, inventory and exclusivity structures are agreed brand by brand.
COMMON QUESTIONS
No. A focused range of proven products is usually a stronger starting point. It allows the team to validate landed economics, positioning and channel fit before expanding.
The appropriate structure depends on the category, product readiness, channel plan and commercial agreement. Moi Trading can discuss importing, distribution and operating structures as part of the initial scope.
Our experience includes distribution, retail, Tmall, JD.com and RED (Xiaohongshu). Channel choice should follow the brand, category and commercial objective rather than a fixed platform package.
