What is China business representation?

A local owner for the conversations that move business forward.

China business representation gives an overseas company a local commercial interface in China. Under an agreed mandate, Moi Trading searches for suitable partners, makes contact, joins and follows up meetings, stays in regular communication with headquarters and helps overseas colleagues prepare and coordinate business visits to China.

01

Companies with no permanent China team

02

Overseas teams that need local follow-up and headquarters reporting

03

Businesses assessing customers, partners, distributors or suppliers

04

Management teams preparing for a larger China commitment

Choose the level of local presence the work actually requires.

How does Moi Trading charge for China business representation?

Affordable to begin. Aligned with the result.

The commercial structure is designed to keep the initial commitment practical for an overseas company. A lean fixed fee covers the agreed China-side work, and a success-based commission may apply when the work reaches a clearly defined commercial result.

01

Lean service fee

Covers the agreed partner research, outreach, meetings, headquarters communication and China-visit coordination. The exact scope and reporting cadence are confirmed before work begins.

02

Success-based commission

When the assignment leads to a defined agreement, Moi Trading may receive a commission. The qualifying result, commission basis, rate and payment timing are agreed in writing in advance.

03

Clear commercial trigger

A success fee is not based on a vague introduction. The parties define whether success means a signed distribution, supply, sales or other commercial agreement and how later changes are handled.

The fee structure does not give Moi Trading authority to sign, bind or receive funds for the client unless that authority is separately and explicitly granted in writing.

Defined deliverables.

What can Moi Trading take responsibility for?

The final mandate is defined in writing, but a business-representation workstream can include the responsibilities below. Moi Trading owns the agreed day-to-day China work; the client retains final commercial and legal authority.

01MOI TRADING LEADS

Partner definition & research

Turn a broad search into a usable, prioritised partner programme.

  • Define the ideal partner by sector, geography, channel, customer access and operating capability.
  • Build and prioritise a target list rather than sending an unfiltered directory of companies.
  • Review available company, market and contact information and identify gaps that need verification.
  • Coordinate deeper corporate, financial or legal due diligence with an appropriate specialist when required.
02MOI TRADING LEADS

Outreach & meeting programme

Prepare, open and document the conversations that may become real opportunities.

  • Adapt the company introduction, value proposition and talking points for the Chinese business context.
  • Approach target companies, qualify their initial interest and identify the relevant decision-makers.
  • Coordinate participants, agendas, calendars and language support for online or in-person meetings.
  • Attend meetings, record decisions, open questions and next actions, and keep follow-up moving.
03MOI TRADING LEADS

Headquarters liaison & China visits

Give the overseas team a consistent local communication and reporting interface.

  • Maintain a structured opportunity tracker and recurring progress update for headquarters.
  • Translate commercial context, not only words, between Chinese counterparts and the overseas team.
  • Prepare visit briefs, meeting sequences, routes and practical local coordination for visiting personnel.
  • Brief before meetings, debrief afterwards and maintain a decision and open-item record.
04MOI COORDINATES · CLIENT APPROVES

Negotiation support & handover

Move qualified interest toward a clearly documented commercial outcome.

  • Clarify commercial questions such as scope, territory, exclusivity, minimums, responsibilities and milestones.
  • Coordinate negotiation follow-up and route legal, tax or regulatory questions to the client or qualified advisers.
  • Support partner onboarding, the first agreed activity or first order when included in the mandate.
  • Document any success-fee trigger, commission basis, rate and payment timing before the work begins.

Local representative, distributor, representative office or own entity?

These options solve different problems. China business representation gives an overseas team local commercial execution under a defined mandate; it does not create a legal entity or imply authority to sign contracts.

Based in Shanghai.
Coordinated across China.

Shanghai is Moi Trading's operating base and main point of accountability. Depending on the assignment, we coordinate company meetings, supplier and factory visits, trade-show work and partner follow-up in the relevant locations across China. Project coverage does not imply a permanent office in every city.

This is commercial representation under an agreed project mandate. It is not a registered representative office, a legal-representative appointment, an employer-of-record service or licensed legal, tax or accounting advice. Contract-signing authority is never implied.

What overseas teams ask.

Is this the same as establishing a representative office in China?+

No. Moi Trading provides scoped commercial support from its Shanghai base. It does not create a registered representative office or legal entity for the client.

Can you attend a meeting on our behalf?+

Yes, when the objective, authority and expected deliverables are agreed in writing. We can prepare, attend, document and follow up the meeting.

How are China business representation fees structured?+

The model can combine a lean fixed service fee for the agreed local work with a success-based commission when a clearly defined commercial result is reached. The qualifying result, commission basis, rate and payment timing are agreed in writing before work begins.

Can the service continue after one project?+

Yes. Work can begin as a focused assignment and continue as an ongoing workstream or retained China Desk when recurring local coordination is needed.

Can you cover locations outside Shanghai?+

Yes. Shanghai is our operating base, and project work can be coordinated across China according to the relevant companies, meetings, suppliers and specialist partners.

Do you conduct due diligence on potential partners?+

Moi Trading can review available company and market information, confirm key commercial facts and flag gaps or risks for follow-up. Formal legal, financial, sanctions or compliance due diligence is coordinated with the appropriate qualified provider when the project requires it.

Can you support negotiations and partner onboarding?+

Yes. We can coordinate questions, meetings, action items and the practical handover into an agreed first activity or order. The client retains final authority over pricing, contracts, exclusivity, payments and partner appointment.
